Socialism

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."

Swanzy Covered Bridge Bike Trip

Last Saturday we began our 2nd bike trip of the summer -- only 12.5 miles. I called about the guided trip ahead of time for some information:  flat trail, all pavement, only about 20 people.  We were excited and ready to go on July 16th.
We soon discovered this flat trail was not flat. Some of the "little" hills were rather steep.
This rail trail was also not paved completely.  We rode through sand and mud, over rocks and limbs.

A large crowd of people were on this trip ...maybe 40-50!

Our family was 10 people including Ashlyn!
Although the bike trip wasn't quite what we were anticipating --we biked the whole trip--right to the end without giving up.
 AND we enjoyed every minute.
This reminds me of events in our lives...they aren't always like we planned.  Maybe not even as we wanted.
We may have some hills to climb.
Times may not be smooth, but filled with struggles.
Many people clutter our path slowing us down or distracting our view.
It is the finishing of the event that is important.
May be remember to keep our eyes on the finish line as we traveled.

Hebrews 12:1-2  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Pitcher Mountain

A couple Sunday afternoon's ago, we hiked up Pitcher Mountain.  Just us!
And Us!!
Some of us climbed the fire tower to have a look at what was below!

Stephen is One now!

Sunday, July 3, 2011

We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; we drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; we drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated." - D.A. Carson
