Huge California study concludes soda consumption undeniably linked to obesity

The dirty little secret of the soda industry has just been exposed by a huge new California study: Drinking sodas leads to obesity, and obesity leads to other deadly diseases like heart disease, cancer and diabetes
The worst health effects from drinking soda aren't merely from the huge quantities of liquid sugar that promote obesity and diabetes; they're also from the highly acidic phosphoric acid found in carbonated soft drinks. The acidity is so high in these drinks that you would have to drink at least eight full glasses of fresh vegetable juice to neutralize it. That's why drinking sodas strips your bones of minerals -- it's a strategy for your body to buffer the acid....Mike Adams. read more...

Connection Between Your Vitamin D Levels and Contracting the Flu

Dr. Mercola says "So far, Swine flu, H1N1, has killed thirty-six children in U.S. and analysis of CDC data indicates Vitamin D deficient children at higher risk of death. The CDC did not realize they discovered this. However, anyone familiar with the Vitamin D literature will recognize it.
Almost two-thirds of the dead children had epilepsy, cerebral palsy, or other neurodevelopmental conditions like mental retardation. All of these neurological conditions are associated with childhood Vitamin D deficiency. Exacerbating the problem further, many of these kids take anticonvulsant drugs, which lower Vitamin D levels." read more about this....

Is "Smart Choices" food label a marketing fraud?

Mike Adams of Natural News says..."The big food companies have dreamed up yet another clever con to sell processed junk foods to parents and children: A "Smart Choices" label that implies the food product is a smart choice for health and nutrition. The problem is that the standards for qualifying for this designation were set by the food companies themselves, and processed junk foods like Froot Loops (a sugary breakfast cereal) qualify". read more...
Want to find some truly "smart choices" for children in the grocery store? Read the ingredients on the products you buy, remembering that the first three ingredients are mostly what that item is made of. Food manufacturers often try to bury sugars deeper in the ingredients list by using multiple forms of sugar that are listed separately: Sugar, sucrose, corn syrup, high-fructose corn syrup, etc.
