Listen my Son,
Open your heart that you may see
My heart poured out on bended knee
So many lessons you'll learn from me.
Listen my Son,
Talk not of tomorrow great things you will do
Labor hard today and see the work through
For tomorrow will come and the day will be new
The Lord blesses fruit that's godly and true.
Listen my Son,
Words flowing forth seem such a little thing
Truth, love, and hope they really could bring
But mistrust, hurt, and anger also could ring
From lips speak the heart in most everything.
Listen my Son,
Walk not today for yourself alone
The next generation God gives on us on loan
A blessing for you, it is God known,
They'll trod in the path today you have shown.
Listen my Son, one more time
A work to Him, God has chosen for you.
Whether you’re near, far, or across the great blue
My prayers will ascend to heaven for you,.
