New Year's Eve

Years ago we hosted a New Year's Eve Celebration for 3-4 years in a row.  We had between 80-120 people for the evening.  The evening started with an appetizer dinner, followed by skits, games, ice-skating, singing, conversations,  desserts, and a New Year's Eve devotional and prayer time(usually at midnight). But it has now been about 9 years since we have had a Celebration.
This year the girls thought...Let's have a Celebration again!
So after Thanksgiving we began to plan:
*Invitations
*Games
*Food
*Activities
* Devotions

First, we just invited our church family.
But one week before the event:
Then Rebecca thought they would like to join us.

Then less than one week before the event:
Then Chris invited a friend of his(who is also our friend) and his sister.
Then a young family we know here in town came to mind so we invited them.

Then the night before the Celebration...while looking at Rebecca's wedding album...we saw someone we had not seen in several years...so we call and he said"Yes! I will come."
This year we have 26 precious souls Celebrate God's Goodness with us.    The evening was a blessing to all!
 Food
Jessica and Julia "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring"
 Moira sings "In my Weakness"
Jack plays and sings (Abigail Helps!!)
Seth and Joel "Top Secret Penguin Project"
 Lydia, Moriah, Christianna, Deborah
Jesus Loves Me --a round
"Amazing Grace" to the tune of "When I read my Title Clear"

 Noah  on the guitar
There's a hole in the bucket, Dear Liza!

Christine and Alan Chidester enjoy the entertainment!
 The Linder Family
Our Grandson.. Stephen -- what a cutie!

It is such a blessing to Celebrate with other Believers the wonderful works that the Lord has done.

We ended our day with a fast game of Catch Phrase

Looking back on 2010 with thankfulness and looking forward to what the Lord will do in our lives this year!

I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
 Psalms 104:33

  4. Maria,
I think it is such a blessing when the Lord's people can get together and enjoy fellowship with one another...we really need this friendship and fellowship as Christians. At least I need this.

  5. Oh what a marvelous evening it was!! do we even have to think about doing it next year? And that picture of Joel and Seth!!! it cracks me up every time. Oh, and Jessica and Julia's 'act' was just perfect to start it all out.

  6. An unforgetable night!! I really, really liked Jessica and Julia's song. They played that really well. I think the best parts of the evening was Joel and Seth's "top secret" and Dad and you doing that skit!!! It was a fabulous evening, and I think there's a lot of us that aren't going to be forgetting it too soon!!!

Oh yes, and I like the expression on Christianna's face in the last picture. Captures the object of the game in one look!!

  7. Oh, yes with the "white for the inlaid body" take it and "smoosh it"! One of the favorite quotes of the evening!

  8. Christianna, what about "all seriousness aside" when he was trying to be serious?

  9. Dear Mandy,

What an absolutely marvelous idea! Makes me wish we lived close enough to attend. And I must tell you that "There's a Hole in My Bucket," is one of our all time favorite songs! But the way we learned it...it's Georgie...not Henry...must be the coastal version!

Thanks for sharing such a special evening with all of us!

  12. Laura,
We have known the song for many years...but I needed the words to it before we did it again last week. On line I found that the song is of German descent...several of the words have been changed over the years. The song is much milder now! You can look it up on line. I did see where they use Georgie also. Steve read a verse from Proverbs following the skit..Proverbs 22:13 The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets. We had a good time with it. So if you want to put it on your calendar for next year you may -- now that would be a lot of fun! I'll have to send you a copy of the invites we sent out!

  13. Lydia, to avoid all confusion, that is for your comment about "all seriousness aside".

  14. Dear Friends,

How sweet of you to invite us already for next year! Though I'm not sure if we could top "There's a hole in my bucket..." Of course, we have a whole year to think about it!

    Have a blessed week!
