Apple Pie

It is Autumn!  That means apple picking.  And..pie making.  I have always made the pies..a few to eat now and some to freeze for events later in the season.

Pie making has been taken over by my daughters...namely Lydia.
Many of the "homemaking" projects have  been mastered by the girls...sometimes I have to figure out what I am going to do at home.  Soon they will have master the skills that I can pass on to them.  Then...is my "job " completed?  Do they still need me?
When they are little it seems the that  the days can occasionally be long with their needs.  With some of them married...I realize that the time for them to need me is so very short.
But that is what I am suppose to be doing..training them to not need  me.   I delight in the things the girls have mastered as they become women.  I rejoice to be able to say...look what my son or daughter did!!! I do find this to be bitter/sweet.  -- The growing up, maturing, and preparing to leave.   I am so thankful for each of my children!   I am thankful that the Lord loaned them to me --even for a short time.  And the pies were absolutely delicious!!

  2. Dear Mandy,
Oh, my heart is there with you, dear friend. We were riding back from an outing on Saturday....Samuel was sitting next to me...he fell asleep and his head rested on my shoulder. I didn't want to move...I kept thinking...this may be one of the last times this happens. My "baby" is already a whole head taller than I am...and will turn 16 next month. Where do the years go? We can only continue to pray that they will see and feel the Lord through us...and want to love Him and serve Him as we do. Preston and I feel so blessed each and every day with the three "gifts" we have been given...such a sweet blessing.
Stay safe, my friend, as you journey from home for awhile. You are all in our prayers.
    With love,
    Laura
